Emmanuelle Beart

Emmanuelle Beart was born Emmanuelle Behart Hasson on the 14th of August 1963 on the French Riviera, specifically St. Tropez. Her father was the famous songwriter and singer Guy Beart, a Lebanese-Egyptian based on France. Her mother was Genevieve Galea, a Jewish-Italian-Greek actress.

Emmanuelle Beart began acting when she was just a teenager. Her first role was in the movie Tomorrow’s Children in 1976. She appeared in several roles in television in Canada. As a teenager, she also worked as a nanny prior to returning to France. In France, the following year, she went to one of Paris’ drama school and trained in acting.

In 1986, Emmanuelle Beart landed her first adult part in the movie Manon of the Spring. She played opposite Yves Montand and her performance was praised by the critics. She won the Best Supporting Actress Award from the Cesar Award the following year. She met Daniel Auteuil in the film and had a ten year romantic relationship with him. They eventually got married, divorced and then remarried.

In 1995, Emmanuelle Beart was again praised for her performance in the film A French Woman. In this film, she played the female lead role and was awarded by the Moscow International Film Festival the Best Actress Award. She was also nominated by the Cesar Award for Best Supporting Actress, in several films including, the 1985 A Strange Passion, 1986 Love on the Quiet, 1990 Children of Chaos, 1992 The Beautiful Troublemaker, 1993 A Heart in Winter, and in 1996 Nelly and Mr. Arnaud.
